Stockholm officer charged over child rape, about 1,500 files

About 1,500 files containing child sexual abuse material are included in the case against a police officer in his 40s employed by Police Region Stockholm, SVT reported. The officer is charged at Södertörn District Court with child rape, a gross child pornography offense, violations of the Animal Welfare Act and computer intrusion.

The alleged offenses took place in different parts of Stockholm and Sweden between 2020 and 2025. The indictment says the officer sexually assaulted children younger than 15 and carried out sexual acts involving animals on two occasions.

The alleged child abuse material

Prosecutors say the officer possessed and viewed about 1,500 files. SVT described the material as being of a particularly ruthless nature. Expressen reported that the indictment also concerns the distribution of two short videos containing child sexual abuse material.

The evidence includes chat logs with other people, according to SVT. In those chats, the officer allegedly shared material, described sexual assaults and expressed sexual interest in children and animals. The material and allegations remain accusations because the case has not been decided by a court.

The police database searches

The computer intrusion charge concerns 27 searches in police systems, prosecutors say. The searches allegedly involved people and were not necessary for the officer’s work.

The investigation initially focused on a child pornography offense after the suspicions came to light in December. Additional allegations emerged during the investigation. The officer is not currently in custody, and chief prosecutor Lena Körner told SVT that the decision followed a proportionality assessment.

The officer denies the charges. The case covers alleged conduct in Sweden through 2025.
