Miley Cyrus is now just Miley. The singer dropped her surname alongside her new single “Bass Persuades,” which is struggling on Spotify despite strong iTunes sales and support from her father, Billy Ray Cyrus.

Miley released “Bass Persuades” on Sept. 3, the same day she announced she would no longer use her last name. The track entered the Spotify Top 50 Global Chart at No. 23 with 2.4 million streams in its first 24 hours. It has since fallen out of the Global 200 and is no longer in Spotify’s U.S. Top 50, though it has over 5 million streams on the platform.

The single performs better on sales charts. It sits at No. 3 on the U.S. iTunes chart and No. 8 on the Worldwide Apple Song Chart. In the U.K., the song is tracking to debut at No. 13 on the official singles chart.

Billy Ray Cyrus addressed the name change on Instagram. He noted that he always called his daughter by her first name and compared her decision to artists like Cher and Prince.

“I told Miley yesterday I felt good about her going with her first name,” Billy Ray wrote.

The full album, Bass Persuades, is set for release on Sept. 18 via Atlantic Records. It features contributions from New York band Model/Actriz and a video directed by Mert Alas that draws inspiration from leather culture. Miley will play two shows at the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 16 and 17 to support the record.

“Music takes hold of us,” Miley wrote on Instagram about the album title. “We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it.”
