Catalonia rain warnings issued Monday as highs fall below 30C
The Catalan weather service has issued rain warnings for coastal and pre-coastal areas on Monday, with the alerts lasting into Tuesday afternoon.

Warnings through Tuesday
The warnings cover Monday morning and afternoon, when the first showers should appear along the coast and later spread to parts of the pre-coast and the southern slopes of the Pyrenees, Ara reported. The same alerts stay in force until Tuesday afternoon, the day Ara expects to be the wettest of the week.
Sunday's national shift
Sunday had already begun to shift toward autumn. El Mundo reported that a cold air mass in the upper levels left abundant cloud over the western half of Spain, with possible afternoon rain in parts of the north. Maximum temperatures fell across most of the country, though the Guadalquivir valley could still pass 35C.
In Galicia and Asturias, precipitation was expected in the second half of the day and could be locally strong in north-western Galicia. Late showers and storms were possible in northern Castile and León, La Rioja and the eastern Cantabrian coast, with hail not ruled out. Catalonia saw mainly low cloud on the coast and pre-coast, with only a low chance of light, scattered rain.
The weekend before had been calm enough. Ara said Sunday's warmest inland areas did not exceed 31C, still high for late September but far below the almost 38C recorded a few days earlier.
What Monday and Tuesday bring
For commuters and anyone outdoors in coastal Catalonia, Monday's rain should stay light in most places, but a locally intense downpour is not ruled out. Cloud will linger through the day, thickest over the coast in the morning, and showers will become more widespread by afternoon and night. Maximum temperatures will fall across Catalonia, with the warmest spots staying below 30C.
Tuesday looks more active. Showers may turn locally strong in parts of the coast, the pre-coast and the western Pyrenees, and rain could reach nearly every comarca under thick cloud. Midday highs will sit between 23C and 27C.
Rain is expected in almost any part of Catalonia over the coming days. Temperatures are then forecast to return to normal by the end of next week.
